India’s linguistic heritage is incredibly rich, yet vast portions of its literature remain locked away from digital access. To address this gap, the Open Knowledge Initiatives (OKI) at IIIT Hyderabad invited 140 motivated university students to join a 45-day online internship dedicated to digitising and preserving public domain works in Indian languages. Selected interns will contribute to building a shared digital library and actively participate in making knowledge freely accessible through open platforms such as Wikisource and Wikidata. This internship not only nurtures digital literacy and collaborative skills but also empowers students to play a direct role in safeguarding and disseminating India’s cultural and linguistic heritage for future generations.
